# Leave and Attendance Policy
This policy outlines the leave entitlements, attendance requirements, and procedures for all employees of [Company Name]. It ensures compliance with applicable labour laws while maintaining operational efficiency.
This policy applies to all permanent, temporary, and contractual employees unless otherwise specified.
3.1 Earned Leave (EL) / Privileged Leave (PL)
• Entitlement: 1 day per 20 working days (18 days per year)
• Maximum accumulation: 30 days
• Encashment: Allowed for up to 15 days at end of financial year
• Carry forward: Up to 30 days to next year
• Eligibility: After completion of probation period
3.2 Sick Leave (SL)
• Entitlement: 12 days per calendar year
• Accumulation: Not carried forward
• Medical certificate: Required for absence exceeding 2 consecutive days
• Notice: Inform manager within 2 hours of shift start
3.3 Casual Leave (CL)
• Entitlement: 12 days per calendar year
• Accumulation: Not carried forward
• Restrictions: Cannot be combined with EL or taken contiguous with weekends/holidays without approval
• Advance notice: Minimum 24 hours
3.4 Maternity Leave
• Duration: 26 weeks for first two children, 12 weeks for third child onwards
• Eligibility: Woman employee who has worked for at least 80 days in preceding 12 months
• Benefits: Full salary with allowances during leave period
• Medical bonus: ₹3,500 if no pre-natal confinement and post-natal care provided by employer
3.5 Paternity Leave
• Duration: 15 days within 6 months of child birth/adoption
• Eligibility: Male employees with at least 1 year of service
• Benefits: Full salary
3.6 Bereavement Leave
• Duration: 5 days per occurrence
• Eligibility: Immediate family members (spouse, children, parents, siblings)
• Benefits: Full salary
3.7 Marriage Leave
• Duration: 5 days per marriage (employee's own)
• Eligibility: Once during employment
• Advance notice: 30 days
3.8 National and Festival Holidays
• Entitlement: 10-14 days per year as per state-specific Shops and Establishments Act
• List: Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, plus state-specific festivals
1. Submit leave request through HRMS/portal at least 3 days in advance (except emergencies)
2. Manager approval required for all leaves exceeding 3 days
3. HR approval required for leaves exceeding 7 days
4. Emergency leave: Inform manager by phone/SMS within 2 hours
• Standard working hours: 9 hours including lunch break (8.5 hours net)
• Flexi-timing: Core hours 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM with 8-hour completion
• Biometric/attendance marking mandatory
• Late coming: More than 3 instances per month = 1 CL deduction
• Available when all leave balances are exhausted
• Requires approval from HOD and HR
• Maximum 30 days per year
• Benefits suspended during LWP period
• For working on weekly off/national holiday
• Must be availed within 60 days
• Carry forward not permitted beyond 60 days
• Unauthorized absence: Treated as LWP
• Pattern of absenteeism: Subject to disciplinary action
• Leave fraud: Grounds for termination
